Dark Eyed “Oregon” Junco

Usually at least twice a day, in the morning and evening, a little group of timid Dark Eyed Juncos, Oregon form, (Junco hyemalis) descends to forage below the feeders. They will visit the backyard feeder more regularly, but only quickly sneak a snack from the feeders in the front, seldom staying for more than a few seconds before flitting back to the cover of a nearby bush.

Tonight was clear sailing without competition from the other birds, so five or six descended to glean the lawn area below the feeders.
