I haven't seen many finches around since we dramatically curtailed our feeders, but I haven't seen any birds with symptoms in any event. As fall approaches, it will subside in the cooler weather. I came across your post while researching and just had to drop you a note and say - wonderful pictures! They really are beautiful birds. The tail support does help them out: My red-bellied woodpecker frequents my feeder a lot more now that I have provided him a feeder with tail support. I keep waiting for my Flicker to try it out but he just sticks to the ants in the garden and I'm not complaining, he can eat them all!
